When to Visit India
When is truly the best time to visit India, you may ask? There’s really no easy answer, but in this article, we will try to bring each season as close to you as possible, so based on your personal interests and preferences you can decide the date for those plane tickets. so let`s move ahead.
Winter
Winter is no less magical in India but the one thing many adventurers find attractive is the smaller crowds and great accommodation deals not only in the cities but in the countryside too. You can ski or snowboard during the day, I think the best is the Gulmarg snow-capped Mount in Jammu and Kashmir.

Summer
While the sun shines and temperatures rise making the cities steamy hot, India in summer offers a line-up of local festivals that give you the chance to fully immerse in the culture. The great thing about summer trips is that tourists aren’t as many at the time and it is the only period when you can climb Mount Kedar kantha with or without a local guide.

All the way, from April to June, you have attractive beaches to swim at, some around other cities. Depending on where you are, we definitely recommend booking an organized trip or traveling solo to spend at least a day on one.
Speaking of the amazing local festivals and events July and August hold massive illuminations you can see only in India. Out of all these Beaches, we would emphasize the one in Goa. In the first week of June, it's very hot, this spectacle lasts for 2 days and is enjoyed by many other travelers.
Also, if you’re nearby we recommend visiting some of the following major festivals:
- Baisakhi – 13th of April - mainly you should visit in Punjab.
- Hemis Festival – 30th June to 1st July.
- Shimla Summer Festival - in the month of May-June.
- Ooty Summer Festival - in Nilgiris Mountain in May.
Spring
Everything starts and grows in spring, so why not this guide too? This is probably the most popular period of the year when all hotels in Ladakh and Kashmir, India are booked, and the streets are filled with tourists and locals but that does not make the other seasons less valuable. It simply offers nature’s best.
Namely, starting February to March is ideal and you can enjoy the majestic sites or mango blossoms all over the country. In March the weather is still slightly cold so for those wanting to experience the culture I suggest visiting Punjab, while in Punjab and all across the country, shrines and temples hold the colorful festival.
Another popular culprit of India you can catch in spring is the gardens in Srinagar. We advise booking tickets in advance here since as a major attraction, you may not find any on the day of the happening.
In April all of the national parks are opening, so from April through May, many rural hot spring excursions are organized as well as trips covering popular destinations like Hemis National Park, and valleys of Himachal Pradesh for people who want to see the countryside too.
Final Word
All in all, regardless of the season you visit India in, you will still stumble across an excess of beautiful sights and festivals in all the major states and cities. From hiking to skiing, and swimming on the beautiful beaches to relaxing in hot springs, India is the land of contrasts, and everyone can find their Heaven.
